  1. It was lovely to see the photos and the articles of your illustrious sporting career! Theshika looks a lot like you and he seem to be following in your footsteps too 🙂

    1. Dear Anushka
Thank for your comment. I am happy many are enjoying those old photographs of mine. They are wondering how I kept these photos carefully for such a long time. I am sure Gian will also take to some sport in time to come.
      With love & Regards

  2. Oh, Jesus what a colourful past as a sportsman. You are truly a blessed creation of almighty God. A genuine all-rounder who was devoted in the noble profession and becoming a well respected doctor / surgeon. A Good Samaritan as per our belief.
May I have your permission to share these valuable photos with Angy and many, old Josephians whom I know?
I wish you good health and vigour to carry on uninterrupted. God bless you and your family.

Thank you very much. Your comment is much appreciated. Yes, we met way back in 1966 and since then we have been friends although far apart. Hope you will enjoy my stories relating to my experiences in and out of hospital as well.

The good Lord has blessed you not only in Education but also in Sports. Over the years at St.Jospeh’s ,Med school and in parts of Sri Lanka you did great in both fields. It’s a blessing to so many people who came to know you personally and professionally. Integrity and honesty always pays in the end.

Do carry on your good work as long as you can….God Bless.

  6. Dear Dr. Gamini
From the album it shows what an awesome carrier you have had in the field of sports from Rugby to Soccer to Cricket.
It’s a good example for the younger generation to see these photos and be encouraged to take part in sports and balance life with sports & books simultaneously.
Thank you & god bless you.

    1. Dear Anil
Thank you for your comment. I am not a great sportsman, but I always liked to participate, win or Loose. Sports builds character, discipline, fellowship etc, etc…. and therefore the youth should learn to balance sports and studies and not studies and smart phone as what we see today.
      Best wishes

      Gamini

  7. Dear Gamini
I really enjoyed seeing these pictures. They are indeed a super record of your skills as a sportsman. I was also thrilled to see the SJC 1966 Rugby group pic in which I am also present. It certainly brings back nostalgic memories!

  8. Great to see those photos, write-ups and comments. Rugger, cricket, football. Even Sir Gary Sobers would have been proud of that record. I still remember a class match when we put up a partnership.

You have been not only a complete sportsman but also a sport and always a friend with a capital F (for 60 years) .

  9. Dear Dr. Gamini,
    What a combination!
A variety of sports, Medicine, Service to humanity and leadership.
    This is a blessing.
