ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

Having graduated from the Colombo Medical School in Sri Lanka many years ago my dream and passion was to be a Surgeon. I underwent training in my chosen field of Surgery in my country followed by Postgraduate Surgical Training in England, India, Japan and Israel.

As a General Surgeon in Sri Lanka I have had a rewarding career spanning 38 years having worked in both civil and military hospitals. I have worked in the front line hospitals during the 30 year conflict in Sri Lanka treating many injured by a wide variety of weapons of war. During this period I faced many challenges, witnessed much and learnt a lot.

EXPERIENCES

I have many memories of my experiences and now I can look back with great satisfaction, while being thankful for what I have experienced. I reached the pinnacle of my surgical career when I was elected the President of The College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka in 2001– the professional body of surgeons in my country.  I also enjoyed participating in medical meetings in Sri Lanka as well as other countries and speaking about my experiences. Some of my original work has been published in medical journals.

Previously I have written about some of my experiences in the book titled – IN THE LINE OF DUTY — the life and times of a surgeon in war & peace.

What can you expect from this blog?

This Blog gives me an opportunity to write about my experiences titled “A SURGEON’S TALES”. I will regularly post articles about my experiences over the last 38 years.
